Lorraine Udell

I’m a Newcastle-based mosaic artist with an interest in colour combinations and natural patterns. With a background in Mental Health Occupational Therapy, I have experience in helping people with challenging needs to engage through making things. With mosaics, I aim to encourage people at whatever level they can participate, often leading to increased self-confidence and pride in their achievements. In my own practice, I enjoy making gifts and exploring themes, my recent work being inspired by the coastal mining community of the North East.  I’m a professional member of The British Association for Modern Mosaic, and an active member of Network Artists North East. I have exhibited locally and nationally, with permanent pieces at Northumberlandia, Hull Station and Wharton Park, Durham.
